BE YOU IN FULL COLOR

MY 6 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER SHOULDN'T HAVE HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCE I DID WITH COLORING BOOKS 35 YEARS AGO
—especially not in 2024!

I loved to color when I was her age, just like her, and I had to use a brown crayon to color images that I loved but didn’t look like me. To my surprise, she was doing the same thing. So, I decided to create a set of coloring books with images that looked like her, my nieces, and little cousins. 

THEN SOMETHING UNEXPECTED HAPPENED.

I published through Amazon so I can get it to my daughter quickly and because, as a busy stay-at-home mom, wife, and entrepreneur, I didn’t feel like or have time to research other ways to publish. In the first two weeks of its release, the book hit the #18 spot in an Amazon Coloring Book category! It turns out this wasn’t just a need for her—it was a need for Black girls and women everywhere, including mixed kids who finally saw themselves in these pages. And then the little boys said it wasn't fair - so I made them one too.
 

I CRIED—UGLY CRIED.

When people began to send me pictures and tell me how each child reacted... I felt like a part of my childhood was being healed, and I didn’t even realize I needed it!

Now, I’m on a mission to provide even more representation experiences through these activity books for Black and Brown children and adults by hosting Pop-up Coloring and Affirmation Events. At these events, we focus on self-esteem, healthy boundaries, and self-perception (while coloring, of course).
